Ending Celibacy As The Solution?

Emily Stimpson recently added to her series of reflections on celibacy and its role in the Church and the priesthood. In today's post she highlights something that has been sorely lacking in a lot of coverage: the Church has traditionally taught that marriage is not an impediment to ordination, but ordination is an impediment to marriage. This understanding is unlikely to change (if it's even possible to do so) were the Church to lift the discipline of celibacy. Accordingly, the pool of new candidates that many think would materialize from this move are already married men, not single men who hope one day to be married. Why do I doubt that those advocating the end of the celibacy discipline have this in mind?
